ATLANTA (AP) - Emory University's law school plans to host a daylong conference on human trafficking.
The 10th annual Emory Public Interest Committee Conference, "Neighbors for Sale: Modern Slavery in Atlanta," is scheduled for Sept. 21. Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens is set to be the keynote speaker.
Panel sessions will explore human trafficking in the metro area, responses of local government and nongovernment organizations, and ways the legal community can act to help prevent trafficking.
Organizers will also provide opportunities for action through volunteering with victims' groups or legislative work.
The conference will also feature investigators and lawyers who work on trafficking cases, health care workers and charities that work with victims and lawmakers and lobbyists who work on trafficking laws.
The event is open to the public but registration is required.
