A Great New Resource

RE: Help Updating the National Directory of Programs Serving Immigrant Victims
The Immigrant Women Program at Legal Momentum, an OVW grantee, is rolling out an online service provider directory. The National Directory of Programs Serving Immigrant Victimsis the first database of programs throughout the United States that provide services to immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking. This comprehensive, state-by-state listing of agencies and services with experience and expertise working with immigrant survivors is a tool that will provide invaluable assistance to advocates, attorneys, non-profits, and government agencies working to help immigrant victims in your communities.
While most organizations have a web presence it can be difficult to discern which programs offering assistance have developed expertise in serving immigrant victims. This directory was developed by Legal Momentum’s Immigrant Women Program under a grant from the Office on Violence Against Women at the U.S. Department of Justice with the goals of facilitating greater access to services for immigrant survivors. The Directory helps you locate others across the country working with immigrant victims. Some examples of how being listed in the directory can help in your work include:
  • Finding a lawyer or advocate in another state to help your immigrant victim client
  • Locating a program that may have developed education or outreach materials in your clients language
  • Identifying an advocacy program with expertise working with an immigrant population you would like to reach in your community
  • Identifying professionals with whom you can share expertise and experience working with immigrant survivors
  • Your immigrant client may be moving to another jurisdiction – helping her find advocates/attorneys who can help her
  • Identifying a program in your own state that can work with you to help immigrant victims
  • Identifying programs in your state with expertise serving immigrant victims who should be involved in your Collaborative Community Response Team or other collaborative work.
This online Directory provides agency contact information, services offered, and information about language capabilities.
We need your help and a few minutes of your time.
You are receiving this e-mail or fax because your organization is one we have listed or because we would like to enlist your help in encouraging non-listed organizations serving immigrant victims to add their information to our Directory.
