A new article discusses violence against women in El Salvador. In short, the death toll involving women stands at approximately 129/100,000, higher than in any war zone in the world. Sexual assaults, in which females are the victims in over 90 percent of cases, have increased over 70 percent between 2002-2009.
When people ask, "How does human trafficking happen?", I usually respond that trafficking is just part of a continuum of exploitation of human beings that we permit, every day. Living in a world where violence against women is this commonplace is indeed, part of the problem.
